Ashwagandha

Read label facts and formats. We do not rank products or predict whether one will work for you.

Ingredient evidence

Ashwagandha is an herb sold as a root or leaf extract. NCCIH notes that most studied preparations use the root, and that products differ in extract ratio and standardized withanolide content. NCCIH: Ashwagandha

Meaningful variation

Labels vary widely in what they actually contain, so two products at the same milligram figure are not comparable without the extract details. NIH LiverTox records reports of liver injury associated with ashwagandha products, and it is not recommended during pregnancy. Anyone on prescription medication or managing a thyroid condition should treat it as a question for a clinician rather than a product choice.

YoutheoryCapsules

Ashwagandha 1,000 mg, 60 Vegetarian Capsules

Single-ingredient capsules. Check which plant part the label names and whether it states a standardized withanolide content, because the milligram figure alone does not describe the extract.

YoutheoryCapsules

Ashwagandha + GABA, 60 Vegetarian Capsules

A combination product. Combinations make it harder to attribute anything to one ingredient, and each added ingredient carries its own questions.
